Wurli Wurlinjang, an Aboriginal community controlled primary health care provider, has established a dedicated Regional Eye Health Program with funding from the Australian Government through the Office of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health. The Program services are available to Indigenous people of the entire region, covering an area of approximately 250,000 square kilometres. The Program is staffed by an Indigenous Regional Eye Health Coordinator, Dorothy Butler, who has been trained in retinal photography. The case study outlines the role and work done by Dorothy Butler, and depicts a visiting optometry clinic.
