2009 Programs
909: Women in General Practice A series of case studies exploring different models and styles of work. The case studies follow five female GPs in RRMAs 3-7.
· 904: Australian Guidelines for the Treatment of Adults with Acute Stress Disorder and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Three case studies, relating to recent trauma, suspected or diagnosed PTSD and PTSD with co-morbidity, demonstrate best practice approaches to the management of mental health conditions following trauma.
· 903: Strong and Deadly Case studies include a football-based program in a high school in Kununurra, WA; a young women’s group in Palmerston, NT; and Tirkandi Inaburra, a residential program for Indigenous boys aged 12-15 near Coleambally, NSW.
· 902: Stay Strong Case studies of community-based health and education initiatives that put an emphasis on prevention and health promotion. These include the Nunga Kids Café in Port Lincoln, SA; Music Outback Foundation in Central Australia; and Chris Sara’s “Strong and Smart” program.
2008 Programs
· 821b: Deadly Steps: Indigenous Youth Case studies include a football-based program in a high school in Kununurra, WA; a young women’s group in Palmerston, NT; and Tirkandi Inaburra, a residential program for Indigenous boys aged 12-15 near Coleambally, NSW.
· 821a: Step by Step: Indigenous Kids 6-12 Years Case studies of community-based health and education initiatives that put an emphasis on prevention and health promotion. · 817: It Takes a Village Three filmed case studies that include a program for young mothers in Mildura, VIC; a workshop on fathering in Nowra, on the south coast of NSW; and a community-building project in Kalumburu, WA. These are all interventions that aim to reduce isolation and build stronger networks and communities.
· 813: It Takes a Community: Preventing Child Abuse and Neglect Case studies filmed in the Aboriginal community of Kulumburu WA, and also in Nowra NSW and Mildura VIC.
· 808: Smoking and Pregnancy: Womb to Breathe Case studies showcase work at the Townsville Aboriginal and Islander Health Service (TAIHS) Mums and Babies Program, QLD; and the Adelaide-based Smoke Free Pregnancy Project, SA.
· 807: Across the Lifespan: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Checks and Lifescripts Case studies from the Katungul Aboriginal Medical Service in Narooma NSW and the Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health Service in Canberra illustrate the successful use and implementation of the health checks into health services.
· 803: An Ounce of Prevention: MBS Item 717, the 45-49 year old Health Check Four case studies filmed in Tamworth NSW demonstrate the use of the MBS item #717 in General Practice.
2007 Programs
· 719a: Over the Seas & Into the Bush: Overseas Trained Doctors in Rural Australia - Part 1 features case studies of overseas trained doctors (OTDs) working in rural and remote Australia and the benefits of orientation, mentoring, and support. Filmed in Alice Springs and the Titjikala Community NT.
· 718s: Continence Education Series 2007/08 Case studies outlining the issues surrounding men’s health, children and adolescents, and bowel continence. Filmed in Brisbane QLD, Narooma NSW and Adelaide SA.
· 708: Drinking for Two? Two location-based case studies illustrate the difficulties and responsibilities for a child with a diagnosis of FASD.
· 702: No One Size Fits All: Alcohol Treatment Guidelines for Indigenous Australians Two case studies demonstrate the key principles from the Australian Government Alcohol Treatment Guidelines for Indigenous Australians and a remote practitioner’s perspective on alcohol treatment.
