Tobacco action workers are dedicated members of many healthcare and community teams around Australia who support, encourage, advise and inspire Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to move along the quit smoking pathway. The journey can be challenging but these dedicated people are there to help keep individuals, families and communities on track.
This program will highlight the training program that is undertaken by the Tobacco Action Workers. Inspirational stories will be shared as will some particularly beneficial strategies in fighting the ‘quit smoking’ battle will be shared.
This program is part of a series of half-hour programs within the Be Strong series. This series has been developed to showcase initiatives and programs in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities around the country as they tackle smoking and support healthy lifestyles. The programs are broadcast on the Rural Health Channel and are then made available to view online. The series will continue until February 2014.
