Foundation to exhibit at rural leadership development event in Wollongong from April 8

March 22, 2010

The Rural Health Education Foundation will have an exhibition at the 2010 National Rural Leadership Development Seminar, which will be held at the University of Wollongong from April 8th to 10th.

The seminar is the first of its kind in Australia, enabling allied health, nursing and medical students to come together in a truly multi-professional arena, to acquire skills that are necessary to excel in career paths in rural and remote Australia.

All visitors welcome

Don Perlgut, CEO of the Foundation, invites seminar visitors to  drop in to the Foundation’s booth.  “One of the key reasons we exhibit at events like these is to meet our stakeholders - both current and future - in person,” Mr Perlgut says. “This seminar is an opportunity for us to meet prospective rural health professionals from across Australia and gather important feedback about the Foundation’s services.”

Students who stop by at the Foundation’s exhibit will be able to:

  • pick up free sample DVD copies of our extensive education and training resources;
  • talk with Foundation staff about establishing a satellite educational viewing sites; and
  • learn how the Foundation delivers valuable medical educational materials free of charge.

The 2010 National Rural Leadership Development Seminar (NRLDS) will be held at the University of Wollongong in NSW from Thursday April 8th to Saturday April 10th.  The seminar is managed by Australia’s two largest health-based student organisations, the Australian Medical Students’ Association (AMSA) and the National Rural Health Students’ Network (NRHSN).

More than 100 handpicked medical, allied health and nursing students from across the country will come together to gain professional development in leadership skills, specific to rural and remote practice.
