It Takes a Village features on Aurora TV on 31st January

The Foundation’s program It Takes a Village which focuses on preventing child abuse and neglect will be screened on Aurora TV on the 31st January 2010.

Aurora TV, now available through the digital versions of Austar, Foxtel and Optus TV, will show the half hour program, which highlights successful community initiatives for preventing child abuse and neglect, on Sunday 31st January 2010.

It Takes a Village is presented by Ms Julie McCrossin - entertainer & Ambassador for NAPCAN.  It features three filmed case studies of interventions that aim to reduce isolation and build stronger networks and communities.  They include a program for young mothers in Mildura, Vic; a workshop on fathering in Nowra, on the south coast of NSW;  and a community-building project in Kalumburu, an Indigenous community in Western Australia.

The program will be of interest to GPs, nurses, allied health professionals, Aboriginal health workers, youth officers and community workers.

DVD copies of the program is available for purchase from the Foundation.  The Foundation’s website also provides the program for viewing via video web-streaming or listening via an audio podcast, both free of charge.
