Fay Holthuyzen joins Rural Health Education Foundation Board of Directors

October 1, 2009

Fay Holthuyzen, a government relations and communications policy specialist, has joined the Rural Health Education Foundation’s board of directors

Ms Holthuyzen officially began her new role as a Foundation director on 1 October 2009.

“I’m delighted to have Fay join me and my colleagues on the Foundation’s board,” said Foundation chair Dr Brian Bowring. “Fay brings expertise and experience in telecommunications, government relations and finance, as well as a demonstrated understanding of Indigenous issues and rural and remote Australia.”

“Her presence on the board will also strengthen the Foundation’s ability to respond effectively to developments in broadcasting, such as digital television and broadband networks,” Dr Bowring said.

Until 2008, Fay was Deputy Secretary of the Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts (DCITA), and the most senior officer directly responsible for advising the Government on broadcasting, telecommunications policies and programs, IT, radiocommunications and postal policies.

“I look forward to helping the Foundation evolve its educational services to Australia’s rural and remote health community,” Ms Holthuyzen said. “Having taken a personal interest in ensuring the delivery of certain telecommunications services to remote Indigenous communities, I have a particular interest in the Foundation’s programs aimed at Indigenous people.”
