Foundation workshops and exhibits conference-bound in October

August 14, 2008

The Rural Health Education Foundation will present educational workshops at one Australian health conference, and mount exhibits at two, during October 2008.

Building on the Foundation’s contribution to the 2008 GPET Convention in Wollongong in late August, the Foundation will present two workshops at the combined WONCA/RACGP Conference in Melbourne, and operate exhibition booths at both the WONCA/RACGP event and the AGPN Forum in Darwin.

Workshops and exhibit at WONCA/RACGP

From Thursday October 2, Amanda Little, Foundation Deputy CEO and Director Education, will present two workshops at the combined WONCA Asia Pacific Regional Conference and RACGP Scientific Convention in Melbourne

In Talking the Talk: More than just rhetoric, Amanda will discuss how the Foundation engages with Indigenous communities when filming case studies.

In Ms Little’s other workshop, Over the Seas and Into the Bush, she will review the Foundation’s development of a DVD resource examining potential solutions to the challenges faced by International Medical Graduates (IMGs).

To complement the workshops, Deborah McIntyre, the Foundation’s Health and Medical Project Officer, and Promotions Manager Clair North will operate a Rural Health Education Foundation exhibition booth throughout the conference. They will be joined by the Foundation’s Chairman, Dr Brian Bowring a rural GP from George Town, Tasmania.

Exhibition booth at AGPN

From Wednesday October 29 through Saturday November 1, Lesley Peters, the Foundation’s Finance and Administration Manager, and Amanda Little, Deputy CEO and Director of Education, will manage a Foundation exhibition booth at the 2008 Australian General Practice Network Forum in Darwin.

All visitors welcome

Don Perlgut, CEO of the Foundation, invited conference visitors to attend the workshops and drop in to the Foundation’s booths.

“One of the primary reasons we present and exhibit at events like these is to meet our stakeholders in person,” Mr Perlgut said. “It’s important for us to meet health professionals from across rural and remote Australia and gather feedback about the Foundation’s services.”

If you stop by at the Foundation’s exhibit you will be able to:

  • Pick up free sample DVD copies of our extensive education and training resources.
  • Talk with Foundation staff about establishing a pre-funded satellite educational viewing site at your institution.
  • Learn how the Foundation can deliver valuable medical educational materials to you, your colleagues and trainees/students free of charge.
