Parliamentary Secretary introduces Smoking and Pregnancy program
April 22, 2008The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Health and Ageing Senator, the Hon Jan McLucas will introduce the Foundation’s April 22nd special program on smoking pregnancy, entitled Smoking and Pregnancy: Womb to Breathe.
This program explores the health impact of smoking on pregnant women, their unborn child, and young children. It canvasses the range of effective smoking cessation interventions, including the use of Lifescript tools, and considers how and when such interventions are best delivered.
The Parliamentary Secretary will make a televised introduction to the hour-long program, which airs on the Foundation’s satellite network at 8.00pm (AEST) on Tuesday 22nd April, with a repeat at 12.30pm on Thursday 24th April. (Note that the repeat is on Thursday and not Friday due to the ANZAC Day public holiday.)
Smoking and Pregnancy: Womb to Breathe includes a number of filmed case studies from Queensland, South Australia and Victoria, along with a panel discussion led by Dr Norman Swan, along with three panellists. The program is sponsored by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.
