Psychiatric Emergencies program now available free on DVD & video
December 23, 2007** UPDATE 31 October 2007: All free copies of the Psychiatric Emergencies program have now been distributed, so there are no free copies available anymore. **
The Rural Health Education Foundation’s Psychiatric Emergencies program, funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing, is now available free on DVD and VHS video.
A patient presenting with behaviour that puts them at risk or potentially puts others at risk poses particular challenges for all practitioners - diagnosis may be unknown or provisional at best, and behaviour may range from mild to threatening and assault.
The Psychiatric Emergencies program, initially broadcast in April 2006, focuses on Australian youth, the onset of disorders such as bipolar disease and schizophrenia, the incidence of substance misuse as a co-morbidity factor, and appropriate management strategies for rural and remote patients.
