Multiple Sclerosis program now available on DVD & video for free

November 15, 2006

** UPDATE 2 July 2007: All free copies of the Multiple Sclerosis program have now been distributed, so there are no free copies available anymore. **

The Rural Health Education Foundation is delighted to announce that its Multiple Sclerosis: Update on Diagnosis and Management program (first broadcast in November 2006) is now available free on DVD and VHS video.

This is possible due to the terrific industry support by an unrestricted educational grant from Biogen Idec, Sanofi-aventis, Serono, and from MS Research Australia (the research arm of MS Australia).

Multiple Sclerosis is a life-long and often progressively debilitating disease that presents in various forms and affects all aspects of life.  It requires complex and individualised management.  Health practitioners need to update their knowledge of the disease, the diagnostic criteria, treatment options, resources and services in order to provide optimum management and support for patients and their families.

Multiple Sclerosis: Update on Diagnosis and Management alerts health practitioners to the possibility of MS among their patients and discusses the current debate over treatment modalities as well as barriers, and potential solutions to diagnosis, treatment and management in the rural setting.  The production of this program was funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing through a grant to support the rural health workforce.

This important program includes valuable insights from the renowned Professor John Pollard AO, Director of the Brain Mind Institute, Co-Director of the Nerve Research Foundation, and Bushell Professor of Neurology at the University of Sydney; Ms Ros Chapman, Community Support Worker (RN) with the MS Society NSW/VIC; Ms Robyn Leece (RN), MS Ambassador NSW/VIC; Dr Geoff Chapman, General Practitioner, Chairman of the MS Society of Tasmania and a Director of MS Australia; and Dr Gary Fulcher, Senior Clinical Psychologist / Research Development Officer, MS NSW/VIC.
