Foundation program presenter earns Australia Day honour
January 30, 2006Professor Ian Hickie, a regular panellist on Rural Health Education Foundation broadcasts, was made a Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia on Australia Day, 26 January 2006.
The Rural Health Education Foundation warmly congratulates Professor Hickie, who received the honour “for service to medicine in the development of key national mental health initiatives and general practice services in both the public and non-government sectors.”
Professor Hickie is the Executive Director of the Brain & Mind Research Institute at the University of Sydney and Professor Psychiatry at the University of Sydney.
He was also the inaugural Chief Executive Officer of the national depression initiative beyondblue.
Professor Hickie is a strong supporter of Rural Health Education Foundation activities and has appeared in six Foundation programs:
- Out of the Blue: Managing Depression
- Managing Mental Health Issues for Young People
- Preventing Rural Youth Suicide
- Children and Adolescents with Anxiety
- Treating Depression
- Attention Deficit Disorder & Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
