Foundation adds 45 new satellite viewing sites
June 22, 2005The Rural Health Education Foundation has expanded its rural satellite network, with 45 new viewing sites now operational, thirteen in the Northern Territory, nine in Western Australia, seven in Queensland, six in New South Wales, four in South Australia, three in Victoria, two in Tasmania and one on Norfolk Island.
Network reach now exceeds 90%
Commenting on the expansion of the Foundation’s satellite network, the Foundation’s CEO Don Perlgut said “The Rural Health Education Foundation has expanded its network of dedicated satellite receiving sites by almost eight percent, with further expansion to follow in the next few months.”
“The Foundation was established to improve the health of rural Australia by providing high-quality television-based distance learning opportunities to General Practitioners and other health professionals,” said Mr Perlgut. “We now have the capacity to reach well more than ninety percent of these professionals in rural and remote communities.”

The new Northern Territory sites are:
- Barunga Health Centre, Barunga Rd, Barunga.
- Wugularr Health Centre, Ngalagan Street, Barunga.
- Bulman Health Centre, Bulman Road, Bulman.
- Minyerri Health Centre, Minyerri, Hodgson Downs.
- Katherine Health Centre, Sunrise Health Town Office, First Street, Katherine.
- Rocky Ridge Nursing Home - Education Room, Gorge Street, Katherine
- Wurli Wurlinjang Health Service, Third Street, Katherine.
- Mataranka Health Centre, Gunn Street, Mataranka.
- Ngukurr Health Centre, Ngukurr Rd, Ngukurr.
- Gove District Hospital, Matthew Flinders Way, Nhulunbuy.
- Palumpa Health Centre.
- Robinson River Clinic.
- Urapuntja Health Service, Utopia.
The new Western Australia sites are:
- Beacon Telecentre, 11 Rowlands Street, Beacon.
- Kimberley Division of General Practice, Hamersley Street, Broome.
- Bruce Rock Telecentre, Johnson Street, Bruce Rock.
- Shark Bay Telecentre, Knight Street, Denham.
- Dongara Telecentre, 11 Moreton Terrace, Dongara.
- Dowerin Telecentre, 13 Stewart Street, Dowerin.
- Esperance Aged Care Facility, Randell Street, Esperance.
- Kondinin Telecentre, Gordon Street, Kondinin.
- Djarindjin Aboriginal Corporation Telecentre, Lombadina (via Broome).
The new Queensland sites are:
- Murroona Gardens Residential Care, Bowen Old People’s Home, West Lane, Bowen.
- Rockingham Home – training room, Jamieson Street, Cardwell.
- Hillside Haven Aged Care Facility – Multipurpose Education Centre, Peter Delamothe Road, Collinsville.
- Logan Community Health Centre, Wembley Road, Logan.
- Beenleigh Community Health Centre, Mt Warren Boulevard, Mt Warren Park.
- Resthaven on Quarry, Sanos Terrace, North Mackay.
- Sarina Aged Care Facility, Hoey Street, Sarina.
The new sites in New South Wales are:
- Mercy Learning Centre, Poole Street, Albury.
- Autumn Lodge Village - conference room, 50 Butler Street, Armidale.
- Maranatha Lodge Aged Care, Calton Road, Batehaven.
- Blayney Multi Purpose Health Service, Blayney Hospital Osman Street Blayney.
- Bulgurr Ngaru Aboriginal Medical Corporation, Baron Street, Grafton.
- Bundaleer Care Services, Cameron Street, Wauchope.
The new South Australian sites are:
- Riverview Rest Home Aged Care Facility (training room), 5 Luther Road, Loxton.
- Central Yorke Peninsula Hospital, Robert Street, Maitland.
- Parkview Aged Care, Moonta Health and Aged Care Services, Multi Purpose Room, Majors Rd, Moonta.
- Adelaide to Outback Regional Training Provider, Melbourne St, North Adelaide.
The new Victorian sites are:
- Healesville and District Hospital, Maroondah Highway, Healesville.
- Aberdeen Aged Care, Aberdeen Street, Reservoir.
- Yarra Valley Aged Care, Hoddle Street, Yarra Junction.
The new Tasmanian sites are:
- West Tamar Health and Community Service, Bolton Street, Beaconsfield.
- South East Tasmanian Aboriginal Corporation, Mary Street, Cygnet.
The Norfolk Island viewing site is:
- Norfolk Island Hospital - staff lounge, Grassy Road.
