About the program

First broadcast on the Rural Health Education Foundation satellite network on Wednesday 6 October 2004, the program highlights the role that cholesterol absorption inhibitors can play when combined with statin therapy in clinical practice.

The importance of plasma cholesterol reduction as a risk modifier for cardiovascular disease has been clearly demonstrated in large clinical trials using the statin class of lipid-lowering agents.

Recent developments from the pharmaceutical industry have resulted in a new class of highly selective cholesterol absorption inhibitors.
